Choosing Hellcat LED Headlights: Bulbs vs. Housings & Fitment
Upgrade your Dodge Hellcat's lighting the right way — LED bulb swaps vs. full housing assemblies, beam pattern, color temperature, and what actually fits by year.

Factory halogen or aging headlights on an older Challenger or Charger Hellcat can feel dim and yellow, and hazy housings make it worse. LED upgrades are one of the highest-impact, lowest-cost improvements you can make — if you buy the right kind. This guide covers the two paths and points you to new parts on Amazon and used/OEM lighting on eBay Motors.
Two ways to go LED
- LED bulb swap: you replace the halogen bulbs with LED bulbs in your existing housings. Cheapest and quickest, but only worth it if the bulb is engineered for your housing type and your housings are still clear.
- Full LED housing assembly: you replace the entire headlight unit with one built for LED output and beam pattern. More expensive, but it fixes hazy housings and delivers a clean, correct beam — and the aftermarket halo and sequential assemblies for the Challenger and Charger are a big visual upgrade.
If your housings are yellowed or foggy, a full assembly almost always looks and performs better than a bulb swap.
What actually matters
- Beam pattern and cutoff. This is everything. A good upgrade lights up the road without blinding oncoming traffic. A bad one scatters glare and gives you less usable light.
- Color temperature. Aim for ~5000–6000K pure white. Skip the blue-tinted “style” bulbs — they perform worse in weather.
- Fitment. Confirm the part matches your exact car (Challenger vs. Charger) and model year — connectors and housing shapes differ across the years.
- Aim. Always re-aim after any lighting change.
Challenger vs. Charger: don’t buy the wrong housing
The Challenger (two-door, LC platform) and Charger (four-door, LD platform) share the same supercharged 6.2L HEMI, but they do not share headlight housings, connectors, or bezels — lighting is body-specific across both cars, and the shape changed at points in the 2015–2023 production run. A full LED assembly, halo ring, or eyelid trim listed for a Challenger will not bolt to a Charger and vice versa. Always filter by your exact body style and model year before you buy — see the generations & fitment reference if you’re not sure which Hellcat you have.
Two lighting details that fool people less than headlights but trip up the same way: taillights are equally body-specific, and cosmetic trim pieces (headlight eyelids, taillight tint overlays) are typically listed by trim level — always cross-check against SRT/Hellcat-specific fitment, not just “Challenger” or “Charger” generically.
How to buy
- New LED bulbs, full assemblies, and cosmetic lighting trim: Amazon Automotive — browse the lighting category or the two in-stock pieces below.
- Used or OEM housings and factory assemblies: eBay Motors, via the search buttons above.
Pair your headlight upgrade with matching LED fog lights and you’ll have a Hellcat that sees — and is seen — far better than it did from the factory.
